Jesse RAMEY, 88, Taken In Death

BATAVIA --- Jesse Carl RAMEY, 88, former Jefferson County resident, died Friday in Burlington.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the People's Church north of Batavia in charge of the Rev. Kermit Black. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. The body will be taken from Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia to the church at noon.

RAMEY was born Sept. 26, 1877 in Jefferson County, the son of Ezra A. and Sarah GEORGE RAMEY. Most of his life was spent in the Batavia and Abingdon areas. He was first married to Lydia SYLVESTER. He later married Agnes DOWD in 1919. She preceded him in death.

Surviving are two children, Carl E. RAMEY, Des Moines; and Mrs. Donna SUTHERLAND, Burlington. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Juanita DOWD, Burlington; and Richard DOWD, Winston-Salem, N.C. Five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
