Robert Eugene 'Woody' WOODRUM

Robert Eugene "Woody" WOODRUM, 64, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A celebration of life service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Larry Shipley officiating. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery, rural Rome, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Henry County Animal Rescue League.

Mr. WOODRUM was born Dec. 10, 1946, in Fairfield, the son of Roy and Irene CARLSON WOODRUM.

Mr. WOODRUM grew up and attended school in Lockridge. He began his working career at Dexter Manufacturing in Fairfield. From 1968-1974, he worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. He began a long career Sept. 30, 1974, in the maintenance department of Mount Pleasant Municipal Utilities. He retired on his 62nd birthday Dec. 10, 2008.

Mr. WOODRUM was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge of Mount Pleasant.

He enjoyed socializing, helping others, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also loved dogs.

Survivors include his longtime best friend, "Baby John" Booton of Mount Pleasant; two brothers: Larry WOODRUM of Keosauqua and Ron WOODRUM of Eldon; and one sister: Coleen KISLING of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
