Fred S. Tisdale, 83, of Keosauqua, died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, where he had resided since Aug. 27.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Milton, with the Rev. Raymond Doser and the Rev. ellis andrews officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m.

Memorials to Milton American Legion building fund or Troy Academy may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 817 Mulberry St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. Tisdale was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Stringtown, south of Troy, the son of H. Schuyler and Mattie Vorhis Tisdale. He married Dorothy Umphrey March 16, 1945, in Birmingham.

Mr. Tisdale graduated from Troy High School and attended DeForest Institute, an early television technology school in Chicago. He farmed near Milton and was a high school basketball referee and an avid hunter.

Mr. Tisdale was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Milton, and had served on its official board, had been a 4-H leader, and was a member of Northeast Missouri Hereford Association. He had served on the Van Buren County Board of Education, Van Buren County Hospital Board and Southern Iowa Electric Cooperative Board, and acted briefly as manager of the cooperative.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Donna Harrison and husband Gary of Sun Prairie, Wis., and Darla Rahe and husband Dennis of Carlinville, Ill.; one son, Kurt Tisdale and wife Amy of Morton, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Murial Birchmier; and one son, Doran Tisdale.
