BONAPARTE -- Vernon E. SWARTZ, 73, died suddenly of a heart attack at 7:15 p.m., Tuesday at his farm home southwest of Bonaparte.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m., at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the Rev. John Cornish officiating. Interment will be in Oquawka, Ill., Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 26, 1901 in Jefferson County, the son of Samuel and Bertha SCHWARTZ SWARTZ. On July 20, 1938, he was married to Edith RIDER at Keosauqua. They spent their married life farming in Van Buren County.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Verla COURTWRIGHT of Memphis, Mo., and Mrs. Edna SAVAGE of Stronghurst, Ill.; five grandchildren, a brother, Lawrence SWARTZ of Marshalltown; a sister, Mrs. Freeda KLINE of Silver Springs, Md. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two grandchildren.
