Richard STARR

Richard STARR, 93, of Richland, died early today, Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Family visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Richland Public Library or Hospice Compassus may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 307 S. Richland St., Richland 52585.

Mr. STARR was born in rural Richland, the son of Mike and Katherine SPANIER STARR. He married Rosaleen McCLURE July 12, 1938, in Ricland. She died Dec. 25, 2005.

Mr. STARR attended country schoolhouse No. 11 near his home. He farmed most of his life and worked at Dexter for many years, retiring in 1983. He and his wife moved from the farm into Richland in 1991.

Mr. STARR enjoyed cards, cribbage, fishing, hunting, pool, country music and his grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters: Katherine ROOP of Sigourney and Janet ANDEWAY and husband Richard of Ollie; one son: Richard Dale STARR and wife Carol of Richland; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leonard STARR.
