Pg. 6 Col. 3ILLNESS FATAL TO JAMES CASE
A Jefferson county resident who once prospected for gold in Alaska died today at 86. He was James Frank CASE who passed away this morning at the home of his brother, 202 W. Adams st.
He had been in failing health for the past six months.
CASE was born Feb. 20, 1863, near Glasgow, Iowa, the son of William and Emily BALL CASE. He spent many years as a gold prospector and in 1906 made a trip to Moose Pass, Alaska. He has made his home in Fairfield since Nov. 8, 1947.
Mr. CASE was a bachelor. He is survived by one brother, Marshall, of Fairfield, and two sisters, Mrs. Ed LITTON, Fairfield and Mrs. Willa FAGIN, Edina, Mo. Several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents and six brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoskins Funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion cemetery southeast of Fairfield.
