Monday, 2 June 1958Jesse A. BLACK Succumbs At 61
Jesse A. BLACK, 61, died suddenly of a heart attack late Saturday morning at the Jefferson County hospital. He had been in failing health at his home one mile west of Lockridge for several months.
Funeral services will be at the Weston Behner Funeral home, Tuesday at 2 p.m. the Rev. Harold T. Rasche will officiate, with burial in Lockridge cemetery.
Black was a long time resident of Lockridge and had worked for the C. B. & Q. railroad for 39 years. He was born Oct. 9, 1896 in Henry county and was the son of George C. and Annabelle MESSER BLACK.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Noel MESSER, Fairfield; nine grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Grace WILSON, Mt. Pleasant. four brothers, Harry BLACK, Ottumwa; George BLACK, Fairfield; Earl BLACK, Iowa City and Leslie BLACK, Salem, also survive him.
