R. McCLEARY Dies At 82

BATAVIA -- Ray I. McCLEARY, 82, died Wednesday evening at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. He had been in failing health the past six weeks.

He was born June 15, 1895 near Selma, the son of Leander and Victoria HENDRICKS McCLEARY. He spent most of his life in Davis County and the Batavia community. He retired from Dexter Company in 1960.

McCLEARY was married to Ocie LONGERBONE on March 13, 1930. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Agnes SICKLES (sic - SICKELS) of Des Moines, Mrs. Alice THOMSON of Mechanicsville and Mrs. Betty Lou PUMPHREY of Hedrick.

Six sons, Stanley of Downey, Calif., Harley of El Paso, Tex., Allen of Maywood, Calif., Harvey, Tom and David. all of Batavia; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Nancy WHITMORE of Ottumwa.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Campbell Funeral Home in Batavia.

Burial will be in McCleary cemetery.
