Alvena M. BRIGGS, 83, Logan Apartments No. 117, died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 1997, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Mrs. BRIGGS was born Nov. 9, 1913, in Jefferson county, the daughter of Clifford and Eva SCARF MILLER. She married Curtis H. BRIGGS on July 5, 1932, at Lancaster, Mo. He died Nov. 26, 1980. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Fairfield. She also helped her husband in his woodworking business. She was a member of the Four Square Gospel Church in Fairfield.
Survivors include one daughter, Vaunceil GOULD of Iowa City; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty GOODWIN and Frances TURNER, both of Fairfield. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Agnes ESKEW, Elma RUBY and Wanda GREENLAND.
