RICHLAND – Last rites for Nelson STEPHENS, 90, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland with the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery.
STEPHENS died Friday at Maplewood Manor in Keota. He was born Aug. 27, 1892 near Washburn, Ill., the son of William and Anna CORBIN STEPHENS. He moved with his family to Packwood at the age of two.
STEPHENS was married to Lelia DAVIS Aug. 19, 1919. She preceded him in death Dec. 10, 1981. Surviving are one son, Tony STEPHENS, Richland; one daughter, Mrs. James BAIER, Soldier, Iowa, and two grandchildren.
STEPHENS resided in Packwood until he moved to Richland eight years ago. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in France. Three sisters and four brothers are deceased.
