BLACK Dies Of Injuries

Perry Earl BLACK, 81, died Sunday of injuries he sustained in an auto accident which took place north of Ottumwa April 8. He wife was killed in the crash.

BLACK died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at the Ottumwa Hospital where he had been a patient since the accident.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Lenwood Monte officiating. Interment will be in New Sweden Cemetery west of Four Corners. The family will receive friends tonight at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30.

BLACK was in the shoe repair business in Fairfield for 50 years before moving to Iowa City and Marion before his retirement.

He was a longtime member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Knights of Pythias and Baptist Church.

Born Aug. 4, 1894, in Henry county, he was the son of George and Anna Belle MESSER BLACK. He was reared and educated in Henry County.

His marriage to Alma JOHNSON SANDELL took place in 1936.

Survivors include two sons, Glen L. BLACK, Ottumwa, and Rex L. BLACK, Boyton Beach, Fla.; two step daughters, Mrs. Myrna NEWCOMB, Reseda, Calif., and Mrs. Patricia HEYVAERT, Washington; two grandchildren and a brother, Leslie BLACK, Salem.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. BLACK had made their home at 2404 N. Court in Ottumwa.
