Charles E. CRAWFORD, 70, of 800 S. Ninth St., died Wednesday night, Feb. 24, 1988, at Jefferson County Hospital.
CRAWFORD was born Nov. 6, 1917, near Brookfield, the son of William and Flossie KNOX CRAWFORD. He married Dorothy MYERS Sept. 19, 1936, in Des Moines. She survives.
He lived most of his life in Jefferson County. He worked for Harken's Meat Plant for 20 years and then was a self-employed carpenter from 1963 until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the Fairfield Friends Church and International Order of Oddfellows Jefferson Lodge No. 4.
In addition to his wife, CRAWFORD is survived by three daughters, Marjory MULLIKIN of Fairfield, Charlene FAIRCHILD of Fairfield and Linda MORGAN of Cairo, Mo.; two sons, Melvin CRAWFORD of Houston and Gene CRAWFORD of Fairfield; five sisters, Morine HOGAN of Richland, Mary SHANSTROM of Fairfield, Ila Mae BRADSHAW of Fairfield, Virginia CONN of Corvalis, Ore., and Lucille DAVIS of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, William CRAWFORD of Belle Plain, Kans.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by one infant brother, Wayne.
The funeral service for Crawford will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with the Revs. Todd Follette and Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery in Pleasant Plain.
Family visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Friends Church.
