Wednesday, May 18, 2011MONTEZUMA -- Phillip MESSER, age 74, of Montezuma, IA, (formerly of Winfield and Ft. Madison) died May 16, 2011, at his Lake Ponderosa home. Born June 6, 1936, son of Chester Earl and Carrie ALTER MESSER in Henry County, IA. Graduated Pleasant Plain High School (Jefferson County) and University of Iowa Pharmacy College. Married Jean A. SUPALLA in East Pleasant Plain on June 11, 1955. He was the owner of Your Super Drug in Mt. Pleasant and Ft. Madison, IA. He retired in 2002 and was the Pharmacy Supervisor for the VA Hospital in Iowa City.
Member of the National Guard and Reserves, Lions Club, Elks Club, and Knights of Columbus. Fan of Iowa Hawkeyes, New York Yankees, and Dallas Cowboys. He like to hunt and fish, and spend time with family at his home at Lake Ponderosa.
Survivors are a son, Steven (Sharon) MESSER of Pleasant Hill, IA; daughters Chrystalyn MESSER and Kimberlyn MESSER of Urbandale, IA; and granddaughters Kaytlyn and Lisa MESSER, Pleasant Hill. His parents, wife Jean, daughters Colleen and Jacquelyn, sons Steven Craig and Joseph, and sister Ardith NEFF preceded him in death.
Holland-Coble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
