Roxie Lee HENDRICKS

The funeral service for Roxie Lee HENDRICKS, 57, 1549 Nipa Blvd., who died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, at his home, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. John Benedict officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery north of Fairfield. Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A luncheon will be served following the committal services at Antioch Church. Memorials can be made to the Ottumwa Regional Home health Care or the American Lung Association.

HENDRICKS was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Fairfield, the son of Roscoe and Thelma MESSER HENDRICKS. He married Rosie COOP on June 30, 1963, at the Antioch Church. He lived in the Mt. Pleasant area from 1963 to 1976 when he moved to Jefferson County. He owned and operated Roxie's Meat Market until it closed in 1981. He was employed as a machinist or fork truck operator at Nelson Manufacturing. He also was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard and founder of the Penn Township Goat Breeders Association, which always purchased the grand champion lamb at the Jefferson County Fair.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Perry of Fairfield and Shane of Ottumwa; one daughter, Renee SCHILLERSTROM of Brighton; two grandchildren; his mother, Thelma RIDINGER of Mt. Pleasant; aunt Violet TALLMAN of Fairfield; two brothers, Robert of Tulsa, Okla., and Richard of Salem; one sister, Phyllis MOORE of Ames; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
