WIFE OF CIVIL WAR VET DIES

One of Jefferson county's two remaining Civil war veteran's widows passed away in Fairfield this morning. She was Mrs. Mary H. TEETER, 98, widow of the late John TEETER.

Mrs. TEETER passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John STEPHENSON, 402 W. Washington street, at 1:30 a.m. today. She had been seriously ill the past six months.

Mr. TEETER served with Company M, 4th Iowa Cavalry during the Civil war. He passed away in 1916.

Last rites will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with Dr. L. H. Scheerer in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mary H. TEETER was born February 5, 1850, at Salina, Iowa, the daughter of the late Washington and Elizabeth MURDOCK VANCE. She was united in marriage November 19, 1868, to John TEETER. She had been a member of the Moyer chapel north of Fairfield since childhood.

Mrs. TEETER is survived by the following children: Mrs. John STEPHENSON, Fairfield; D. A. TEETER, Burt, Iowa; Mrs. O. E. MAHON, Ottumwa. She is also survived by a brother, M. F. VANCE, Akron, Colorado; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
