Dolores "Dee" Irene Heitmeier, 66, of New London, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, in her home.
The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at New London Christian Church, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Kilbourn Cemetery in Keosauqua.
Visitation will be held after noon Thursday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the family present from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New London Rescue Unit, New London Christian Church, New London Food Pantry or Home Health Care of Henry County.
Mrs. Heitmeier was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Washington County, the daughter of John Lloyd Nelson Sr. and Mabel Irene Walker Nelson. She married Benjamin Cole Dec. 8, 1957, at Kilbourn Methodist Church.
Mrs. Heitmeier graduated from Douds High School in 1957. She was a homemaker and a private duty nurse.
Mrs. Heitmeier was a member of New London Christian Church and Neighborhood Watch and was involved with the hospitality team and music team ministry at her church. Her pastimes included writing poetry and illustrating cards.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Cole and wife Kayla of Springfield, Ill., and Kenton Cole and wife Charman of Lomax, Ill.; one daughter, Kristi Cole of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, John "Bud" Nelson Jr. of Fairfield; and one sister, Connie Hull of Charitan.
Mrs. Heitmeier was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters.
