Michael Lawrence "Mike" Shanholtzer, 56, of Sulphur, Okla., died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at his home.
The funeral was Aug. 25 at Krien Chapel in Davis, Okla., with the Rev. Paul Foust and the Rev. Mel Taylor officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Mr. Shanholtzer was born Nov. 27, 1946, in Fairfield, the son of Tom and Edith Rose McCarty Shanholtzer. He married Wendy Elliot in 1965. They later divorced. He married Marie Richards of Sulphur Jan. 27, 2001.
Mr. Shanholtzer attended school in Batavia and graduated from Hickory Grove School near Stockport. He lived in Waco, Texas, for 10 years before moving to Sulphur in 1987.
Mr. Shanholtzer was employed as a diesel mechanic for several trucking companies, including Joe Brown of Davis and Brooks Trucking of Paoli, Okla. He was a Baptist. His pastimes included restoring old cars and building hot rods.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, of Mount Pleasant; two sons, Mike Shanholtzer and wife Sharon of Sulphur and Tom Shanhotlzer and wife Kathy of Ardmore, Okla.; one daughter, Kathy Taylor and husband Mel of Davis; one stepson, Brian Ayers of Sulphur; one stepdaughter, Jo Lynn Beaver and husband Claude of Davis; one sister, Sandra Joy Prickett of Lockridge; six grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
