Marjorie Pierce, 94, of Keosauqua died Sunday morning, Sept. 14, 2003, at her apartment in Village Terraces.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cantril United Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond Doser and the Rev. Ellis Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.
Open visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials to Cantril United Methodist Church or the donor's choice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 14658 252nd St., Milton 52570.
Mrs. Pierce was born April 29, 1909, near Eldon, the daughter of James Calvin and Ella Lucinda Houston Thomas. She married Wesley F. Pierce Feb. 24, 1932. He died July 19, 1990.
Mrs. Pierce graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1926 and was a rural teacher in the county for several years. She and her husband farmed near Cantril for more than 58 years. Following his death, she moved Sept. 1, 1990, to Country Lanes Apartments, where she was active in volunteer services. She moved to the Van Buren County Hospital assisted living facility at Village Terraces in June 2003.
Survivors include one brother, Paul Thomas and wife Ilah of Milton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Avon, Herbert and Alton Thomas; and two sisters, Hildred Wells and Mamie Sheets.
