William TURNER Taken In Death

William H. TURNER (sic - William Monroe TURNER), 79, 704 N. Main Street, died Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at the Jefferson County hospital. He had been in failing health for a year and seriously ill for two months.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of Dr. C.R. Douglass. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

TURNER had been a resident of Fairfield for 73 years. He was born June 20, 1883 at Galena, Ill., the son of James W. and Minnie MARTIN TURNER. In 1889 he moved with his family to Fairfield. He was married June 17, 1903 to Alta M. HESTON, who survives.

TURNER retired as custodian of the First National Bank last fall, a position he had held since 1941. Prior to that time he served as custodians of grounds and buildings at Parsons college, beginning in 1903.

Surviving children are Glenn E. TURNER, Peoria, Ill.; Paul M. TURNER, Hannibal, Mo.; Harry L. TURNER, Ottumwa; James W. TURNER and Mrs. Robert H. NELSON, both of Fairfield. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Vic SODERGREN, Lockridge; and a brother, George W. TURNER, San Jose, Calif.

TURNER was a member of the First Presbyterian church and the Elks lodge. One brother preceded him in death.
