MRS. TURNER, CITY PIONEER, IS SUMMONED
Funeral Service Will Be Held Wednesday At Christian Church

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth TURNER, widow of the late Samuel B. TURNER and one of the pioneer residents of Jefferson county passed to her reward last evening at 8:00 o'clock. (sic)

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the First Christian church. The services will be in charge of Dr. S. Willimason (sic - S. P. Williamson) assisted by Dr. W. F. Rex of the First Lutheran church.

Mrs. TURNER died at her home 167 West Briggs street, in this city, after an illness dating back to November 16th when she was stricken with a cerebal hemorrage (sic - cerebral hemorrhage). She had been in serious condition for some time. Surviving are three sons, A. C. TURNER, J. E. TURNER and Wilson C. TURNER, all of this city. Her husband passed away on January 25th, 1932.

Mrs. TURNER was born in Warren, Ohio, May 7, 1850, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hezakiah (sic - Hezikiah) CASE, being one of a family of nine children, all of whom with the parents have preceded her in death. She came to Jefferson county with her parents while yet a very small child and spent the remainder of her life in the Glasgow community and in this city.

On December 10, 1868, she was united in marriage to Samuel B. TURNER, a young veteran of the Civil War. It was given to the couple to spend 63 years in happy wedlock together and to rear their sons without the family circle being broken.

Mrs. TURNER was noted for her hospitality of the old-time style and for her spirit of helpfulness to those in distress. She was a member of the First Christian church of this city and was also affiliated with George Strong Corps No. 21, Woman's Relief Corps and Hawkeye Rebekah Lodge No. 386.
