James Wayne RIPPEY, 85, of Fairfield, died at 6:20 a.m. today, Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

James Wayne RIPPEY, 85, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be at Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.
Family visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established. Cards and memorials may be sent to 704 S. Sixth St., Fairfield 52556.
Mr. RIPPEY was born July 18, 1926, in Winterset, the son of Russell E. and Leah HOPKIN RIPPEY. He married Helen F. WILLIAMS July 30, 1950.
Mr. RIPPEY served in World War II from 1946-1947 and was awarded the Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Japan Medal.
Mr. RIPPEY operated the Milton Meat Processing Plant for 20 years. He moved to Fairfield in 1964 and was employed by Fairfield Engineering for 21 years. He also had his own lawn service for an additional 15 years.
Mr. RIPPEY enjoyed spending time with family, operating citizens band and ham radios, camping, traveling and doing craftwork. He was a NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters: Betty ZEAGLER and husband Bobby of Baytown, Texas, and Barbara PILCHER and husband Gordon of Fairfield; two sons: Russell RIPPEY and wife Ruth of Libertyville and Larry RIPPEY and wife Cindy of Fairfield.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Stephen RIPPEY of Ames.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Willard RIPPEY; one son at birth: James Williams RIPPEY; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
