Carol Mae JERREL LEATHERS, 89, of Mesa, Ariz., died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, in Mesa.
A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Mesa. The body was cremated. Cremains will be placed in a columbarium located at the church.

Mrs. LEATHERS was born May 2, 1922, in Glasgow, the daughter of Clifford and Cora JERREL. She married Harold W. LEATHERS July 27, 1941. He died April 30, 2001.
Mrs. LEATHERS attended Fairfield High School and Iowa Teachers College. She taught at various schools in Iowa, including in Lockridge, and Arizona. In 1954, she and her husband moved to Mesa. She was a teacher, trim carpenter and new construction coordinator.
Mrs. LEATHERS also volunteered with her church.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen R. LEATHERS and wife Jeannie of Phoenix and Stuart D. LEATHERS and wife Debra of Mesa; two sisters, Darlene GREIGER and Betty HINKLE; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
