Evelyn I. RANARD

Evelyn I. RANARD, 83, Parkview Care Center, died at 6:45 p.m Saturday, May 31, 1997, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. David Callen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary or Parkview Care Center activity department.

Mrs. RANARD was born July 22, 1913, in Davis County, the daughter of Erie Irl and Addie Bell BENGE THOMPSON. She married Virble COMER. He died Nov. 8, 1956. On March 9, 1957, she married Grover "Bob" RANARD in Agency. He died Dec. 30, 1987. She had lived most of her life in Jefferson County with her previous residences in the Floris and Ottumwa communities. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Grey Ladies Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and Fairfield Women's Club. She had been a Girl Scout leader, an Avon representative and had worked on costumes for theatrical events at Foursquare Gospel Church.

Survivors include one son, Lloyd COMER of Rockford, Ill.; one daughter, Janet MILLER of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mable VAN PATTEN of Santa Rosa, Calif., Yosanda LAWS of Iowa City and Shirley MORAN of Thousand Oaks, Calif. She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ernest THOMPSON, Herbert THOMPSON, Lowell THOMPSON and Ronald THOMPSON; one sister, Maxine KLONGLAN; and other infant siblings.
