Cletus R. YODER

Cletus R. YODER, 90, of Richland, died at 1:35 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Richland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kim Gates officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Open visitation begins at 3 p.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the family present 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Richland United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 277, Richland 52585.

Mr. YODER was born July 17, 1921, in Kalona, the son of Daniel P. and Elsie C. CONRAD YODER. He married Clara P. FOLLMAN Sept. 8, 1945, in Sigourney.

Mr. YODER graduated from Kalona High School in 1940. He and his wife moved to Richland in 1948 and to Parkview Care Center in Fairfield in January 2011. Mr. YODER farmed for 25 years and worked at Fairfield Engineering. He also was a school bus driver, house-painter and maintenance man for Richland Senior Housing.

Mr. YODER was a member of Richland United Methodist Church, donating lots of time to the church. He was a former member of Richland Lions Club and Richland Community Club.

He enjoyed participating in and watching sports and playing the harmonica and guitar.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Pamela K. HOLMES and husband Clarke of Des Moines; one son, Larry E. YODER and wife Marsha of Lakeland, Fla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Agnes YODER of Denver; and two brothers, Russell YODER of Richland and Ralph YODER of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gernie BRIGHT and Ardis SHIRKEY; and three brothers, Verton, Raymond and James.
