John R. "JR" JAMESON, 66, of Des Moines, formerly of Ottumwa, died Sept. 11, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Arrangements are pending at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa.

John 'JR' JAMESON

John "JR" JAMESON, 66, of Des Moines, formerly of Ottumwa, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the family present from 5-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie JAMESON; two daughters, Cecelia HOPWOOD of Ottumwa and Jamie JIMENEZ of Apple Valley, Minn.; two sisters, Mary Ann WIDMAR and Betsy MELCHIORI; and two brothers, Jim JAMESON and Mike JAMESON.

Note: An obituary also ran in the "Ottumwa Courier" on September 14, 2011, which contained a little more detail: John was born in Ottumwa on August 14, 1945. He married Dixie BLACK in 1968. He was a manager for several Goodyear tire stores, most recently in Des Moines. He is also survived by four grandchildren, many other family members and friends.
