Roy O. ROBERTS

Roy O. ROBERTS, 76, of Mount Sterling, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at home.

Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harness Cemetery, Mount Sterling, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating.

Open visitation began at 3 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the family present 5-8 p.m. and Masonic rites at 7 p.m.

Memorials for Shriners Hospitals for Children or for the family to designate later may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 20369 275th St., Mount Sterling 52573.

Mr. ROBERTS was born Sept. 8, 1935, the son of Claude and Ruth ROEDER ROBERTS in Roscoe, Mo. He married Joy LANCASTER Jan. 1, 1956, in Mount Sterling.

Mr. ROBERTS grew up in Roscoe and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1953. He was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1996. He also farmed near Mount Sterling.

Mr. ROBERTS was a member of Concord Christian Church of Concord, Ill., and was a 50-year member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons Keosauqua Lodge No. 10. He also was a member of Ainad Temple of East St. Louis, Ill.

Mr. ROBERTS enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching their sports participation, hunting and spending time with his show dog Homer. He also loved baseball.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters: Pam DINKELMAN and husband Wally of Irvington, Ill., and Carolyn BONE and husband Kraig of Old Mines, Mo.; four grandchildren; his mother of Roscoe, Mo.; four brothers: Bill of Springfield, Mo., Dale of Mount Sterling, Lee of Burlington and Ted of Republic, Mo.; and two sisters: Irene BELL of Stockton, Mo., and Neva MALLICOAT of Roscoe, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his father; one son: Gregory; one brother: Carl; and one sister: Jannie.
