Addison Cromwell OLIVER
Addison Cromwell OLIVER, son of David and Jane OLIVER, was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, May 28, 1868 (sic. other sources use May 18, 1868), died June 5, 1943.
He was the youngest of eight children. The other members of the family were one sister, Mrs. Ellen METZLER, six brothers, David, John, Elijah, Lucian, Edward and Joseph. All preceded him in death.
On Feb. 22, 1893 he was married to Miss Josie HUSS (sic. divorced on Nov. 3, 1921; she is buried in her parents' plot in Evergreen cemetery). To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Jessie WHARTON, who passed away several years ago.
He is survived by one granddaughter, Evelyn, several nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. He has been an almost constant sufferer for the last two years or more and has been heard to express a desire for release from his pain, on numerous occasions.
He united with the Christian church in Packwood about 38 years ago.
Funeral services were held from the Hoskins Funeral Home at Fairfield on Monday, June 7, conducted by S. P. Williamson, minister of the First Christian church. The hymns were sung by Mrs. H. LUTES with Mrs. Wm. M. STEVER at the piano. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
