Page 1, Column 1James DUNN died Tuesday at the home of his daughter Mrs. S. C. PEEBLER at Batavia, Iowa. He was the father of Mrs. Dudley GATLIN and lived here with them some 15 years ago when Mr. GATLIN owned the livery barn. Funeral at Batavia. Born in Tenn. May 2 1816 and died at the age of 93 leaving four generations behind him. Wife died in 1893 but five of their 9 children survive.

Page 5, Column 3James DUNN was born in Green Co., Tenn. May 2 1816; died Apr 27 1909 in Batavia, Iowa. When about 15 years of age, his parents moved to Blount Co., same state. When about 21 he married Anna BRYANT. A few years after he moved to Mason (Madison) Co., Ill., and in 1848 came to Jefferson Co., Iowa, and resided here since that time. To this union nine children, 7 girls and 2 boys, 3 of this number dying in childhood. Wife also preceded him July 1 1893. Grandpa DUNN was a kind friend to all. He and his companion united with the Bapt. Church.... and later the Church of the Brethren. After wife died he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. S. C. PEEBLER up to the time of his death. Leaves four daughters and one son and a large number of grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, etc. Children are Mrs. D. HOLDER, Mrs. S. C. PEEBLER, Mrs. M. GATLIN of Batavia, Mary LEWIS of Oregon, J.M. of Ft. Madison. Funeral conducted by C. M. Walker.

Note: Married a second time to Mariah McINTIRE CARVER DIXSON. James is buried in Brethren (a/k/a Dunkard) Cemetery with his first wife, Mariah in County Line Cemetery with her first husband Thomas CARVER.
