Former Fairfield Resident Dies At Home In Davenport

Mrs. Otto A. JOHNSON, 49, of Davenport, Ia. died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday in her home following an extended illness. She was born on Feb. 12 1892 in Batavia, the daughter of Samuel C. and Virginia MORRIS WALKER, and educated in Fairfield schools. She married Otto R. JOHNSON in Clinton in 1920. Mrs. JOHNSON was a Methodist by faith.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday in the Murray funeral home, Fairfield. The Rev. M. A Gable, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will arrive in Fairfield from Davenport early Tuesday morning.

Surviving are the husband, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth JOHNSON at home; a son, John F. LESHER, Lynnwood, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. M. WHITING of Hanover, Mich., Mrs. John TARPY, Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Charles BRUHN, Davenport; two brothers, Lawrence A. WALKER, Davenport and Bert N. WARD, Rock Island. One grandson also survives.

Mrs. M. A. JOHNSTON of Centralia, Mo. is in Fairfield to attend the funeral services of her sister-in-law. She is staying at the home of Mrs. W. S. JOHNSON, also a sister-in-law. Mrs. Otto JOHNSON resided in Davenport for 13 years.

Note: Buried in Lot SDiv.1-014. Irene was first married to John Schuyler LESHER, then to Otto JOHNSON. First husband John died Feb. 27, 1948, in Newton, IA, and was supposed to be buried in Fairfield, but his DC does not state at what cemetery; at this point we do not have record of his burial in the county. Second husband Otto is nearby in Lot SDiv.1-016.
