DIED IN CALIFORNIA.

Relatives in Fairfield have received news of the death of M. V. GREENWOOD which occurred the 24th ult. at his home in Oakland, Calif. Deceased was born in Butler County, Ohio, in 1839, and came to Jefferson County with his parents in 1848, settling on a farm near Brookville. He was married in 1861 to Mary Jane SMITH of that place. To this union two children were born, one son surviving him. Besides his wife and son, Mr. GREENWOOD is survived by four sisters -- Mrs. E. W. MORSE of Denison, Texas, Mrs. J. W. SINCLAIR of Grand Jct., Colo., Mrs. J. F. HUDSON of Packwood, Iowa, and Mrs. E. W. IRELAND of Fairfield, Iowa. Mr. GREENWOOD was a continuous resident of this county until 1898 when he removed to California.
