Edith Louise Diers, 95, of Wayland, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, with the Rev. Marvin Mueller and the Rev. David Franker officiating. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Germanville.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, Wayland Responders or the activity fund of The Van Vorhies Haus.

Mrs. Diers was born May 5, 1908, at Four Corners in Jefferson County, the daughter of Charles J. and Margaret Pohren Graf. She married Harlan J. Diers Oct. 25, 1932, in Germanville. He died June 24, 1989.

Mrs. Diers lived most of her life in the Germanville community. She moved to Wayland in 1976. She was a farm homemaker.

Mrs. Diers was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and the HLCW in Germanville. She was a 4-H leader for Walnut Lassies Club and joined in a quilting group at Wayland Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert H. Diers and wife Mary Kathryn of Wayland and Everett J. Diers of El Paso, Texas; one daughter, Ruth Rhoades and husband Larry of Brighton; one sister, Mildred Hill of Washington, Iowa; two sister-in-laws, Lucille Graf of Lockridge and Margaret Graf of Alburquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lester, Harlan, Roy and Glenn Graf; one sister, Marie Vorhies; and one granddaughter, Beth Rhoades.
