JoDee ROE

JoDee ROE, 77, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Cards and memorials may be sent to 708 Liberty Drive, Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. ROE was born June 11, 1934, in Carroll, the daughter of Glenn and Ruby SURRIS KING. She married Ralph ROE March 22, 1976, in Columbia, Mo.

Mrs. ROE had worked on the assembly line at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids.

She collected angels, crosses and Precious Moments. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, garage sales and crafts, as well as gardening.

Survivors include her husband; seven children: Mark EKSTROM and wife Paula, Terri Jo ERICKSON and husband Larry, Craig EKSTROM and Thomas ROE and wife Pat, all of Cedar Rapids, Doug EKSTROM and wife Kathy of Oil City, Pa., Connie ALCANTAR and husband Frank of Hillsboro, Ore., and Michael ROE and wife Marsha of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Glenna GAYLOR of Georgia and Darlene LAUER of Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: James KING; two sisters: Betty ERICKSON and Dorothy GUSTAFSON; and one grandson.

JoDee EKSTROM ROE

JoDee (EKSTROM) ROE, 77, of Fairfield, Iowa, died peacefully on August 25, 2011, at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, Iowa. Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 29, at the First Baptist Church, 205 W. Broadway Ave., Fairfield, Iowa. Friends may also visit on Sunday, August 28 from 2 to 4PM at the Behner Funeral Home, 203 S. Main Street in Fairfield.

JoDee was born to Glenn and Ruby KING on June 11, 1934 in Carroll, Iowa. She was the youngest of six children. JoDee married Jerry EKSTROM on December 31, 1950 and lived in Martelle, Iowa where they raised 4 children. JoDee worked at Collins Radio for 14 years where she met many great friends and had many wonderful memories.

In 1975 JoDee found the love of her life when she met Ralph ROE. She married Ralph on March 22, 1976 and they enjoyed 35 wonderful years together. They had a very deep love for each other, which will be so sorely missed with her passing. In addition, special love goes out to her best friends Dean and Donna Lane.

Survivors include her husband Ralph ROE of Fairfield, Iowa, her four children from her first marriage: Mark (Paula) EKSTROM of Cedar Rapids, Terri Jo (Larry) ERICKSON of Cedar Rapids, Doug (Kathy) EKSTROM of Oil City, Pa., and Craig EKSTROM of Cedar Rapids. Additionally, with her marriage to Ralph she opened her heart and deeply loved his three children. They are Connie (Frank) ALCANTAR of Hillsboro, Oregon, Tom (Pat) ROE of Cedar Rapids, and Michael (Marcia) ROE of Fairfield, Iowa. Also surviving are her sisters Glenna GAYLOR of McDonough, Georgia, Darlene LAUER of Eagle Grove, Iowa, 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Jerry EKSTROM, a brother James KING, sisters Dorothy GUSTAFSON and Betty ERICKSON, and a grandson Mike ROE, Jr.

Our mother's passion in life was to bring joy and happiness to all her children, husband, and to everyone she met. She was truly an angel on earth and shall be in heaven. Rest in peace, and know that all your children and husband will gratefully love and cherish you and your memories forever. Memorial contributions may be made in JoDee's memory to the Hospice of Good Samaritan Society, 2050 Great Oak Drive, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501, or The First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Iowa.
