DEATH OF MARTIN G. LIBLIN

Martin G. LIBLIN, Sr. (sic. Martin George LIBLIN; the use of 'Sr.' in the obituary is the only use of it found so far [by this contributor, that is]; it is not part of his headstone inscription, so LIBLIN family researchers should consider the use of 'Sr.' with some caution), died at his home in Cedar township, Tuesday, June 14th, at about half past ten in the evening. His death came as the result of a long and painful sickness. Up to two years ago Mr. LIBLIN was a strong and hearty man, but about that time he was taken sick and his condition for long time greatly alarmed his friends. A year ago last December he went to Colorado and remained until the March following, but was not improved. After his return, however, he became greatly improved and last summer he was so much better that his complete recovery was much hoped for. In the fall he grew worse and his condition continued to fail until the sad ending last week.

Mr. LIBLIN was born near St. Louis, Mo., April 13, 1848. He came to this county when a boy with his parents (sic. Jean Jacques "Jacob" LIBLIN and Julia RIVEY LIBLIN) settling in Cedar township, which remained his home all his life. He was married in 1868 to Miss Julia LOURY, also of Cedar township, who, together with eight children, remain to mourn their loss. The children are Martin, Jr. (sic. the 'Jr.' is not on his headstone inscription, it should be noted), Louis, who died in infancy; Mary E., Frank, Phillip, who died at the age of seven; Jennie, Fred, and Benjamin, all at home.

The funeral took place at the house, Thursday morning at nine o'clock, Rev. Dr. J.F. Magill officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Patterson cemetery (sic. a/k/a Pattison cemetery).

Mr. LIBLIN was a most excellent man and his death is deplored by a large circle of acquaintances.
