Eva Hoaglin Harlan, 99, of Hillsboro, died at 7:55 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Park Place of the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Hillsboro Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Doerr and the Rev. Bob Dameron officiating. Interment will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Hillsboro Baptist Church or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Mrs. Harlan was born May 2, 1904, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Charles Fremont and Melissa Boley Hoaglin. She married L.T. "Soda" Harlan in September 1939. He died Dec. 9, 1976.
She was the oldest living graduate of Hillsboro High School, a charter member of Alpha Club, member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Hillsboro Baptist Church and the Womens Baptist Society. She received a 50-year pin from the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant and was a member of Henry County Republican Women.
Survivors include one daughter, Carole Melissa Christians and husband Glen of Mount Dora, Fla.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers, Harry, Clyde, Frank, Mark, Joe, William and C.F. Hoaglin.
