Note: transcribed verbatim from the microfilm source image. The first name can also be found in some sources as "Mathew". His death date was erroneously given as "1883" in the 1915 obituary of his wife Rebecca WRIGHT, who went on to marry four more times.

Death of Matthew ADKINS

Matthew ADKINS, the old and well known wood sawyer, a resident of this city for many years, died at his home in the southwest part of town Wednesday night of last week. He had been sick but a few days with pneumonia. The funeral took place from the house Friday afternoon, Elder Mapes of the Christian church conducting the services. Mr. ADKINS and family had returned from St. Joe. Mo., last fall, having lived there for several years. Deceased was sixty-seven years old.
