Nita Faye JOHNSON

Nita Faye JOHNSON, 85, of Fairfield, formerly of Birmingham, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A private family graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton, with the Rev. Ed Newman officiating. The body will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Lockridge Fire Department.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Mrs. JOHNSON was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Pleasant Plain, the daughter of James and Violet THOMPSON HODSON. She married Charles Edward JOHNSON June 6, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo. He died March 29, 1996.

Mrs. JOHNSON grew up in Pleasant Plain and attended Pleasant Plain High School. She had lived in Pleasant Plain and Richland before moving to Birmingham in 1960. She moved to Fairfield in 2003.

Survivors include seven children: Richard JOHNSON and wife Diane of Fairfield, Donald JOHNSON and wife Sheri of Mount Pleasant, Raymond JOHNSON and wife Karee of Birmingham, Diana KEMP of Mount Pleasant, Kathy KULENBECK and husband Greg of Mount Pleasant, Charles J. JOHNSON and wife Erin of Lockridge and Dennis JOHNSON and wife Judy of Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
