Ralph W. PEARSON

Ralph W. PEARSON, 82, of Birmingham, formerly of Batavia, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at home.

No service is planned. Per Mr. PEARSON's wishes, his body has been cremated.

Memorials may be made to the family. Cards and memorials may be sent to 17968 Jefferson-Van Buren St., Birmingham 52535.

Mr. PEARSON was born Feb. 26, 1929, in rural Selma, the son of Ray and Mildred SELLERS PEARSON. He married Carmen MATHES Sept. 28, 1954, in Iowa City.

Mr. PEARSON graduated from Libertyville High School in 1947. He owned and operated Pearson Mercantile in Batavia for several years. Later, he was a butcher at the Packwood locker. He also enjoyed farming at his home in rural Birmingham. Mr. PEARSON served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; three children: Ralph and wife Wendy of Birmingham, Jeffrey and wife Rose of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Teresa of New Albany, Ind.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers: John of Batavia, Roscoe of Wellman, David of Agency and George of Eldon; and two sisters: Judy WILKINSON of Bloomfield and Evy HARRIS of Hedrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Doris, Josephine, Chloe and Margaret; and one brother: Jim.
