John Leo STREITMATTER, 45, of Fairfield, died unexpectedly at home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated.
Memorials may be mailed to his family at 414 S. 14th St., Fairfield 52556.
Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.
Mr. STREITMATTER was born March 31, 1966, in Joliet, Ill., the son of Michael E. and Donna R. KIJOWSKI STREITMATTER.
Mr. STREITMATTER grew up in Joliet, attended schools there and worked on Mississippi River barges.
Survivors include two daughters: Amber and Taylor STREITMATTER of Muscle Schoals, Ala; four sisters: Marla GUEVARA and Debra McCAUHN, both of Joliet, Ill., Elizabeth STREITMATTER of Keosauqua and Tina LaCOCO of Fairfield; and one brother: Mike STREITMATTER of Fairfield.
His parents preceded him in death.

The Fairfield Police Department received a report of a dead body at Landmark Inn, 115 N. Main St., shortly after 10:30 a.m. today.
Fairfield Police Chief Julie Harvey would not release details this afternoon, stating the case is under investigation, and the results of an autopsy are pending. Information about the individual is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The dead body discovered early Thursday at Landmark Inn has been identified as 45-year-old John STREITMATTER, who died in his apartment.
The cause of death is unknown at this time, but an autopsy is being performed by the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office. Fairfield Police Chief Julie Harvey said there is nothing suspicious about the cause of death -- the police department investigates all unattended deaths as routine procedure.
According to a press release from the Jefferson County Attorney's Office, the Fairfield Police Department received an emergency 911 call at approximately 10:38 a.m. Thursday, reporting a male subject who appeared to be deceased and looked like he had hit his head in the alley behind the Landmark Inn. Upon arrival, the police discovered the body of a male individual in an apartment at the back of the Landmark In with an entrance to the alley.
Ambulance personnel confirmed the body was deceased, and the medical examiner investigator pronounced STREITMATTER dead.
Assisting with the investigation are the Fairfield Police Department, Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office, Jefferson County Area Ambulance Service and Jefferson County Attorney's Office.
