Duane P. "Doc" ORMS, 80, of Pleasant Plain, died at 4:37 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at home.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Plain Friends Church, with the Rev. Stan Bauer officiating. Cremation will follow, and burial will be at a later date.
Family visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
General memorials may be left a the church or may be mailed to the family at 706 Midway St., Brighton 52540.
Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.
Mr. ORMS was born June 17, 1931, in Galesburg, Ill., the son of Phillip and Velma M. COX ORMS. He married Mary Margaret AVERY.
Mr. ORMS attended schools in Galesburg and Fairfield. He worked in the trucking industry for many years as a self-employed driver, agent and dispatcher for P.I.E. Trucking.
Mr. ORMS was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict). He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
Survivors include his wife; four children: Steven ORMS of Fairfield, Kevin ORMS of Pleasant Plain, Tierney HANSHAW and husband Gene of Pleasant Plain and Phyllis ADRIAN and husband Terry of Fairfield; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Fred LOGA; and an infant sister.
