L. Leota ETKA, 98, of Keosauqua, died at 12:50 a.m. today, Friday, July 8, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Letha Leota ETKA, 98, of Keosauqua, died at 12:50 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

A graveside service was held this morning at Vernon Cemetery, southeast of Keosauqua.

Memorials to Vernon Cemetery may be mailed to the family at 405 Franklin St., Keosauqua 52565.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. ETKA was born May 7, 1913, in Bentonsport, the daughter of Millard Fillmore and Ella RUNYON NICHOLS. She married Lloyd T. ETKA Sept. 12, 1932. He died May 19, 1970.

Mrs. ETKA grew up in Bentonsport and attended Bonaparte High School. She and her husband lived in Wyoming and Seattle, Wash., where she was employed as an inspector with a motion picture firm. She returned to Keosauqua in 1996. She lived at Country Lane Apartments and the past seven years at the Good Samaritan center.

Mrs. ETKA was affiliated with the United Methodist Church and attended Keosauqua United Methodist Church during her years in Keosauqua.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, including Fran JACK and Donna BENTZINGER, both of Keosauqua.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: August and Everett NICHOLS; and four sisters: Minnie WALLACE, Myrtle FRANK, Lena HUGHES and Charlotte NICHOLS.
