Roger L. "Chico" Cavin, 62, of Ollie died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.
No services have been planned.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home
Mr. Cavin was born May 7, 1941, in Ollie, the son of Frank and Bessie McLain Cavin.
Mr. Cavin graduated from Ollie Consolidated High School. After graduation, he started working at Amana Refrigeration in Amana and then worked at John Deere in Ottumwa, he was most recently employed at Fesler Auto Mall in Fairfield. He also was employed as a night marshal in Ollie for several years. His hobbies included being involved with parades, gardening, hunting and fishing and morel mushroom hunting.
Mr. Cavin was a member of the Pekin sports program.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Conne of Galesburg, Ill.; three sisters, Rose Mahan of North English, Frances Peart of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Shirley Murray of Clarinda; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cavin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sue; and one grandson.
