Catherine Evelyn YOUNG

Catherine Evelyn YOUNG, 92, of Fairfield, died Wednesday evening, June 29, 2011, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A private family interment of ashes will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

A gathering of family and friends will be form 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fairfield Public Library large print collection or First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. YOUNG was born April 12, 1919, in Aurora, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Eva Amelia McGONEGAL BISHOP. She married James Daniel YOUNG Aug. 24, 1940, in Fairfield. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. YOUNG was a resident of Fairfield most of her life. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1937. She worked in the registrar's office at Parsons College, in the Jefferson County clerk's office and for attorney Scott Jordan.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

Mrs. YOUNG enjoyed being with family, playing cards, reading, boating and taking car rides.

Survivors include two daughters: Danella VAN TASELL and husband Steve of Fairfield and Kathy DAVIS and husband Ross of Southaven, Miss.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Grant; one sister, Tedda; and her parents.

Catherine Evelyn YOUNG of Fairfield died Wednesday evening at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

She was born on April 12, 1919 at Aurora, Iowa to Benjamin Franklin & Eva Amelia McGONEGAL BISHOP.

Catherine has been a resident of Fairfield for most of her life. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1937.

She married James Daniel YOUNG on August 24, 1940 in Fairfield.

She worked in the registrar's office at Parsons College, in the Jefferson County Clerk's office and for attorney Scott Jordan.

Catherine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

She enjoyed being with her family, playing cards, reading, boating and taking car rides.

Deceased family members include her husband, 1 brother Grant, 1 sister Tedda and her parents.

Surviving are her 2 daughters: Danella VAN TASELL and her husband Steve of Fairfield and Kathy DAVIS and her husband Ross of Southaven, Mississippi; 6 grandchildren: Heather LOWRY and husband Chad, Aspen LOHMAN and husband John, Heather HOADLEY, Amie RUFFIN and husband Jerry, Gabriel DAVIS and wife Stacy; 10 great grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren, Patrick Katie, and Michael VAN TASELL.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fairfield Public Library large print collection or the First United Methodist Church.

There will be a Gathering of family and friends on Saturday, July 2nd from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

A private family interment of ashes will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
