George Henry DURAN of Fairfield died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

George Henry DURAN

George Henry DURAN, age 74 of Fairfield, passed away June 19, 2011 at the Jefferson County Health Care Center in Fairfield.

A Memorial service will be (11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 29, 2011) at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen C. Page officiating. George generously donated his body to the University of Iowa for study. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church prior to the service June 29, 2011.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to Parkinson's Foundation (Davis Phinney Foundation). Cards and Memorials can be sent to 1703 - B Linden Dr. Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

George was born June 29, 1936 to James and Christine AMADOR DURAN in Roswell, NM. George attended the University of New Mexico. He married Magdalene GALLEGOS on August 16, 1958 in Albuquerque, NM.

George has lived in Fairfield for 6 years, with previous residence in Bonita Springs, Florida. He was a manager/Consultant in the Industrial Laundry business for 40 years. His interests and hobbies include golf, fishing, raising tropical fish, computer-technology, and football.

George is survived by his wife: Magdalene DURAN of Fairfield, 4 sons and 3 daughters: David DURAN of Houston, TX, Clarisa (Tom) McMAHON of Fairfield, IA, Dolores (Joe) BINA of Maple Grove, MN, Vincent DURAN of Nicholasville, KY, Jennifer (Donny) SANDERS of Brunswick, GA, James (Heather) DURAN of Palatine, IL, Gregory DURAN of Reading, PA, 13 grandchildren: Megan McMAHON, Matt McMAHON, Alec AUSTIN, Elena Marie AUSTIN, Miguel DURAN, Carina DURAN, Cristina KROUTER, Ricardo DURAN, Abigail DURAN, Rebecca DURAN, Andrew DURAN, Kirsten RUBENKING, Jeremy RUBENKING and 1 brother: William CANTU of Las Cruces, NM.

George was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Marie LaRIVA, and Juanita DeGARMO and 1 brother: James CANTU.
