ABINGDON--Nelson N. CAMPBELL was born in Ross County, O., July 22d, 1831, and died January 21st, aged seventy-two years and six months. He came to Jefferson County in 1848, where he resided until his death. He was married to Maria CAMPBELL Jan. 12, 1859 (sic - 1856, per Jefferson County Marriage records), and was the father of nine children, six of whom died in infancy. His wife died Sept. 8, 1902. Three children mourn his death, Mrs. M. L. DOWNEY of Batavia, A.F. and C.S. CAMPBELL of Abingdon. A brief funeral service was conducted at the home by Elder W. A. Black of the Christian Church, and burial was made in the Abingdon Cemetery.
