DEATH OF JOHN D. SMITH.

Born Jan. 13, 1824, in Hancock County, Ind., and died Dec. 2, 1905, aged 81 y. 10 m. 19 d. Came to Iowa in 1844 and was married to Catherine SMITH (sic - Amanda C. SMITH per county marriage records) in 1859. Three children, two dying in infancy. The other, James, died in 1887. Survived by one brother, T. R. SMITH of Abingdon, Iowa, and a sister, Mrs. Harriet FORREST of Chehalis, Wash. Cancer. Funeral services conducted at the home of his niece, Mrs. Martha JOHNSON, by Rev. Starr, of Martinsburg, and the remains interred in Abingdon Cem.
