HAZEL PRICE ALLEN DIED THIS MORNING

Hazel May (sic. Mae on headstone) ALLEN passed away this morning at 3 o'clock after an illness of six weeks.

Mrs. ALLEN is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom PRICE. She was born in 1896 and was 25 years old at the time of her death.

She was united in marriage with Roger ALLEN in 1916 who passed away two years ago.

Mrs. ALLEN is survived by her mother and father, one brother, Fred PRICE, her grandmother, Mrs. Martha ELIS, and an Uncle Fred ANTHONY.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock from the A. M. E. church.

Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Note: Born on October 26, 1896 and died on April 19, 1921. While the obituary used "May" for the middle name, her headstone in Row 6 Space 4 in the public grounds section of Evergreen cemetery is engraved "Hazel Mae Price, wife of R.A. Allen 1896 - 1921".

OBITUARY

Hazel Mae PRICE ALLEN was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, October 29, 1896.

She graduated from Fairfield high school with her class in June, 1915. She was married to Roger Ardway ALLEN of Hannibal, Mo., July 22 (sic - 26th), 1916, who preceded her in death, December 19, 1918.

Mrs. Hazel ALLEN departed this life Tuesday morning at 3:15 o'clock at the age of twenty-five years. She became a member of Bethel A. M. E. church in 1915 under Rev. Augustus' administration. She was a member of the Eastern Star lodge No. 4 of Ottumwa, Iowa.

Our loss is heaven's gain. She leaves to mourn her loss a mother, father and gradmother (sic), three uncles, Fred ANTHONY of this city, Charley PRICE of Burlington, harry ANTHONY of Omaha, Neb., two aunts, Mrs. V. WOODS of Burlington and Mrs. E. PRICE of Burlington, and o host (sic) of friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday evening at 4 o'clock at Bethel A. M. E. church, conducted by Rev. B. F. Hubbard, assisted by Rev. Doughty.
