Elmer A. BATES, who was so seriously injured Sunday night when he was run over by an auto while riding on his bicycle between Libertyville and Batavia, died this morning at nine o'clock at the Jefferson County Hospital. His arm, which was badly crushed, was amputated yesterday morning, but he had sustained so many other serious injuries that his recovery was impossible. Mr. BATES was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fay BATES and was born near Perlee, Iowa, on September 26th, 1897. His mother preceded him in death on February 16, 1916. Besides his father, he leaves the following brothers and sisters: M. L. BATES, Zua E. BATES and Roy Z. BATES, all of Perlee....
