James "Robert" CUBBAGE, 85, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

James 'Robert' CUBBAGE

James "Robert" CUBBAGE, 85, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dave Alberts officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Fell Cemetery south of Libertyville.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family. Cards and memorials may be sent to 1687 265th St., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. CUBBAGE was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Libertyville, the son of Ruben James and Cora Elmina BROWN CUBBAGE. He married Betty Jane BLACK Feb. 27, 1946, at the Bloomfield parsonage.

Mr. CUBBAGE was a dozer operator for his whole life. He also farmed and was a machinist at Rockwell for 25 years.

Mr. CUBBAGE served in World War II with the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife; four children: Betty Janette CAMPBELL of Batavia, Cora Ruth RIPPEY and husband Russell of Libertyville, Roberta Ann FLEIG and husband Randy of Fairfield and Harold Robert CUBBAGE and wife Kathy of Libertyville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Eugene CUBBAGE of Batavia and Violet HYDE of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Leonard, Richard, Harold and Charlie; three sisters: Mary CLOKE, Irene ADAMS and Lucille TEDROW; and one grandson.
