John Alva CASS

John Alva CASS, 84, of Bonaparte, died at 7:22 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Donnellson Health Center.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Larry Shipley officiating. Burial, with military rites by American Legion Sargeant-Osweiler Post 463 of Bonaparte, will be in Bonaparte Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-7 pm. today at the funeral home. Family visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Donnellson Health Center or Bonaparte Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 19826 110th St., Danville 52623.

Mrs. CASS was born July 8, 1926, in Bonaparte, the son of Dwayne and Trilla MEYERS CASS.

Mr. CASS grew up in his grandparents Alva and Ada MEYERS' home and graduated from Bonaparte High School. He served with the United States Army in Korea during the Korean conflict. Mr. CASS worked many years as a mechanic at Lamborn Ford in Farmington and as parts manager at Bloomfield Ford. He also farmed the family farm south of Bonaparte.

Mr. CASS was a member of the 106th Ordnance Association, American Legion Sargeant-Osweiler Post 463 of Bonaparte and Van Buren County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include several cousins, including Josephine LUNSFORD of Bonaparte.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Al CASS.
