Doris Dian SMITH LANKFORD

Doris Dian SMITH LANKFORD, 58, of Washington, Iowa, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Washington County Hospital in Washington.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the Rev. Dean Elmore officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Mrs. LANKFORD's grandchildren may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 103 North D St., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. LANKFORD was born Nov. 19, 1952, in Fairfield, the daughter of Dale Franklin and Armena Ruth GRENIER SMITH. She married Willard HAWKINS March 4, 1971. They were later divorced. She married Robert LANKFORD Nov. 10, 1992. They later divorced.

Mrs. LANKFORD grew up in Washington and attended Washington community schools. She graduated from Kirkwood Community College and from Indian Hills Community College's accounting program. She was a housewife.

Mrs. LANKFORD was a member of Church of God in Washington.

Survivors include one son, Scott HAWKINS and wife Sheila of Fairfield; three grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; her father of Washington; four brothers, Jim SMITH of Keller, Texas, Donald SMITH of Romeoville, Ill., Steven SMITH of Washington and Michael SMITH of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her mother and three brothers, Larry, Gary and Denny SMITH.
